Skype Fatal Error dxva2.dll

On a Windows XP System, with the latest updates on Skype, when you try to run Skype, you will get the following error like on the next picture.

SkypeFatalError

The update of the Skype was referred on a video call quality, so the developers implement a newer version of Direct X for this version of Skype, so how they can improve the quality of the Video Call.

But the problem here is that Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft. In other case we can make simple run Windows Update and that will fix the problem, but now we need to do all the work manually.

The procedure is simple. We need to download this “dxva2.dll” file and place it in the Skype directory.

Here is the download link for the file:

After the fie is downloaded and extracted, we need to place it in the Skype installation folder, that by default is:

C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone

skype-dxvaAfter this we run the Skype and should work.
