Here we had an strange situation with MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk. The board had an issue with SAMSUNG 970 EVO Plus SSD 500GB M.2 NVMe.
The board didn’t want to recognize the SSD as connected on M.2 port but there is an option in BIOS to test the hard drive somehow it recognize the disk and begin with testing. But the test took long so we stop it and try to boot the PC with bootable USB and try to install Windows 10 OS but the operations stop on Welcome Screen.
After that I restart the PC and I notice that the BIOS version was very old around June 2020, so I assume that that was the issue as I notice that there were a lot of new BIOS releases for this board. Here is a link to MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk Support Page from where you can download new version of BIOS and also drivers if you needed.
Just to mention here: BIOS UPDATE IS A RISKY JOB AND IF YOU HAVEN’T DONE THIS BEFORE, BETTER LEAVE THIS TO AN PROFESSIONAL.
I have download not the latest (because was Beta) but one version older of the BIOS, I extract the content and copy the file to an fresh formatted USB drive. Start the PC, enter the BIOS and start M-Flash App. Select the corresponding file and the App do the rest, but be careful not to interfere this operation. I use UPS every time I Flash a BIOS of a Motherboard in case of Power Failure.
Here I make a video also about this issue, I hope you like it.
